It is with great sadness that we have to announce that Thames Amateur Radio Group member, Clive Ward, G1EUC became a silent key on the evening of Friday September 4th 2015.

There can be few amateurs in South Essex who have not known Clive or been affected by his enthusiasm for amateur radio, many as candidates of the Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society training group where Clive was Training Coordinator and a key lecturer on foundation, intermediate and full licence courses. As well as teaching amateur radio, Clive was a key member of the Essex Repeater Group, serving for many years as the group treasurer and latterly as the Essex Repeater Group Chairman, working tirelessly with the rest of the group to keep GB3DA, GB3ER, GB3DB, GB7ZP and the MB7IDA Echolink node up and running.

Clive was a fine ambassador for the hobby of amateur radio and a keen teacher of the hobby he loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him regardless of club affiliation or amateur radio interest. Thames Amateur Radio Group would like to pass on our condolences to Clive’s family and to those who worked with Clive to make amateur radio the hobby we all enjoy today. Clive was one man, but he made a big difference!
