December 2017

All months are busy – but December was particularly hectic.

Photo of mealFirst there was the Christmas Social at the club with a range of raffle prizes (above) – including a hand held transceiver.

This was followed by a second social at a restaurant (right) where the raffle ticket was included in the price of the meal; both these occasions gave us the chance to talk about things other than radio.

Train the Trainers Dec 2017Next was the RSGB “Train the Trainers” where TARG facilitated at our club premises. There was 27 candidates from 7 different clubs with a presentation by 3 RSGB experienced trainers.

Photo shows those from our club who were awarded a certificate – such a high number of trainers means when we accommodate a range of different training styles to match the needs of the students.

Photo of 15DecThen there was our regular second meeting of the month “TARGet Nite”. On this occasion there were three themes covering the evolution of radio.

A Morse Code class in one corner, home-brew construction of torroids in another corner, and a demonstration of live SDR radio.

As usual there was the opportunity to simply mingle, have light refreshments and ask questions on radio related topics and almost certainly there would be someone in the room who knew the answer.

And, at the time of writing, there is a still another event planned for 30th December for a field day (weather permitting) at Hadliegh Park.

So, lots of opportunities to get involved and promote the hobby. Thank you to the organisers of these events for making them happen.
