March 2017

On 3rd March TARG were pleased to welcome guest speaker Tony G0JYI who is a tutor and examiner for Radio Controlled Helicopters. He spoke about the legal and technical aspects of the hobby and the presentation was enhanced by a close up look at two machines; one electric and the other with an internal combustion engine. Radio control has come a long way in recent years and Tony was able to demonstrate the varying pitch of the rota blades and how this, together with other techniques, controls the operation of the machines.

In late February Members of TARG committee (left and right) met the Senior Ranger (centre) at Hadliegh Country Park to plan a Special Event Station on 25th June at the site of World War Two gun emplacements over looking the Thames. The location is very popular with visitors and we anticipate a lot of interest so are planning a display with a range of radio related demonstrations to encourage new members to the hobby.  www.QRZ.com and search for GB2HCP

We take the safety of our members and visitors very seriously so have completed a self-inspection of all our procedures. An improved First Aid kit is now available and all the club equipment has been PAT tested and certified. Many thanks to Club Member John 2E0LFX for completing this task.
