October 2018

28th October: Intermediate Passes. After four days of practicals, study and revision over two weekends – four M6s (only 3 in photo) are awaiting their new 2E0 callsigns with excellent results from their indicative marking. This was a fun course with a great sense of humour and top marks. As always – many thanks to the tutors and support volunteers who gave up their time to help others progress in the hobby.

19th October: TARGet Nite. Photo shows Belinda M6JNX studying the details of this home-brew receiving Mag Loop. Also experiments on crystal radio, RF grounding and options to pick up a bargain with used equipment. This a proving to be a very popular part of the club activities.

Also: p.56 of November Radcom for report on Filed Day at Wat Tyler Park.

G4LTH05th October: TARG were pleased to welcome John G4LTH, Vice-Chair of Thurrock Acorns Amateur Radio Group, who gave a presentation on his experiences of operating /P from remote islands in Scotland.

The talk covered everything from the boat ride to the battery pack. The  photo shows just how remote his expedition was.
