Training with TARG

TrainingSince 2013 Thames Amateur Radio Group has provided formal training.

Our style of training, which has proved to be highly successful, is to offer intensive training over one or two weekends culminating in sitting the RSGB examination at the club premises.

  • Foundation: An intense 2 day course held over one weekend.
  • Intermediate: An intensive four day course, held over two consecutive weekends.

All course materials are provided, except text books which students are encouraged to purchase in advance, and refreshments are provided throughout the day. The cost includes the RSGB examination fee, materials and refreshments.

New for 2017! Advanced Exam: Private study supported by (a) system of candidate/mentor (b) focus classes, eg maths, circuits (c) fortnightly reviews in parallel with online learning course (d) Exam. In Oct 2016, four TARG members passed their advanced course via this method.

FAQ: Do I have to be a TARG member? No. Many people who complete our training are impressed by the club and then decide to join TARG but there is no requirement or exception of membership.
